Frequently asked questions
From safety to session times, we’ve answered the most common questions to help you feel confident and prepared for your Paradise Pedis experience.
A fish pedicure is a natural exfoliation where our certified Garra Rufa fish gently remove dead skin from your feet.
No tools, no blades, no chemicals — just a clean, natural process that leaves your feet feeling smooth and refreshed.
No — not at all.
Our Garra Rufa fish don’t have teeth. They’re naturally gentle.
Most people say:
- it tickles at first
- then turns into a relaxing, massage-like feeling
The best way to describe it is like light vibrations or jacuzzi jets on your feet.
Yes — and we take that very seriously.
We’ve invested heavily in making Paradise Pedis one of the largest, safest, and most technologically advanced fish spas in the world.
Here’s how we keep it safe:
- Every customer completes a health screening
- Followed by a physical foot inspection
- Then a full foot sanitizing process
If someone has:
- cuts or open wounds
- fungal or bacterial infections
- active skin conditions
- certain medical conditions or prior amputations
👉 they are not allowed into the tanks
Simple rule:
We don’t allow anything into our tanks that can be harmful.
No — and this is where our system really stands out.
Our filtration and sterilization system was designed to mimic the ocean — it’s self-cleaning.
- Water is constantly being pumped in
- At the same time, water is being drained out
- That’s why tanks don’t overflow and always look clear
Our system runs 24/7 — before, during, and after every session.
Each tank takes about 15–30 minutes to complete a full cycle, and that’s the minimum time we leave between customers.
👉 That’s how we ensure no two people ever use the same water.
No — we don’t “switch out” fish.
Instead, we control what they’re exposed to.
Since fish are living creatures and can’t be sterilized, our approach is simple:
👉 Don’t allow anything harmful to come into contact with them.
That’s why we have:
- health screenings
- foot inspections
- sanitizing before entry
- strict denial of high-risk cases
Also important to know:
Most of our fish are:
- under 2 inches long
- extremely delicate
If something harmful enough to affect a human entered the system…
👉 it would affect the fish first.
And because we monitor them daily, we would catch that immediately.
Expect something fun, different, and honestly… something you’ll probably laugh through at first.
Most people:
- start off ticklish
- then settle into it
- and end up not wanting to leave
It’s:
- relaxing
- social
- and a little addictive
Sessions run about 20–30 minutes, and it’s even better with friends or a group.
Between every session, the tank goes through a full cycle using:
- mechanical filtration
- biological filtration
- chemical filtration
- UV sterilization
This takes 15–30 minutes per tank, and we do not skip or rush this process.
That cycle is exactly what resets the environment before the next guest.
This is a fair question — and we understand why people ask it.
In reality, across decades and millions of people, there have only been a handful of verified infection cases worldwide.
And in every case, it was linked to:
- poorly regulated facilities
- bad filtration systems
- no proper screening process
👉 Not the fish.
At Paradise Pedis, we handle this by:
- not allowing infections into the tanks in the first place
- strict screening and inspections
- sanitizing before entry
- advanced filtration and sterilization systems
So instead of trying to fix a problem after the fact…
👉 we prevent it from ever entering the system.
We get this question a lot — and we understand why.
But the real story matters.
- She had a previous toe amputation from an infection caused by stepping on broken glass
- She should not have been allowed to do a fish pedicure
- The facility allowed it anyway
- The same foot was later reinfected, leading to further complications
There’s no clear proof this had anything to do with the fish.
👉 What we do know:
- this was an isolated case
- it involved a pre-existing condition
- and improper screening
At Paradise Pedis, someone in that condition would not be allowed into our tanks.
That’s exactly how situations like that are avoided.
No — absolutely not.
Our fish are cared for daily by trained fish care specialists and receive a balanced diet, including:
- specialized food
- vitamins
- probiotics
Garra Rufa fish are naturally attracted to dead skin — it’s just what they do.
👉 It’s not their main food source, and they cannot survive on dead skin alone.
We have dedicated fish care specialists who monitor:
- their health
- behavior
- feeding routines
- water conditions
These fish are checked daily.
Healthy fish = safe system.
